"We would like to remind parents that the process of dismissing children from the elementary schools involves much coordination and planning," Brick police said in a post on the department's Facebook page. "Our first priority is the safety of the children, and for that reason the schools have a policy that parents should arrive exactly at dismissal time to pull into the parking lot BEHIND the buses."

Parents picking up at Osbornville School should arrive at 3:30 p.m., the post said.

Parents have been parking on both sides of Drum Point Road near the school, creating a hazardous situation along the road, which is one lane in each direction and lacks a significant shoulder.

"At no time should parents park on the roadside to wait for the school to get out, or for the buses to arrive. Parking on the roadside impedes the flow of traffic and causes congestion problems that effect the entire surrounding area," police said.
