Brick Fire Company Assisting At NJ Forest Fire
Firefighters from towns across southern New Jersey are helping to fight the fire that has consumed more than 12,000 acres.
BRICK, NJ — Firefighters from Brick Township are among the hundreds fighting to contain the Wharton State Forest fire across much of the southern half of New Jersey.
"Our Department is currently assisting at the Mullica River fire with our Heavy Brush Truck," the Herbertsville Fire Company said in a post on Facebook. The fire has consumed more than 12,000 acres of forest since it started on Sunday.
The company on Tuesday said the smoky smell in the Brick area is a result of that fire.
