Brick Girl Scouts Put Focus On Domestic Violence
A May weekend's walk at reservoir walk raised awareness, and money for Dottie's House, to help survivors of domestic abuse.
Girl Scouts from Daisies on up to Senior Girl Scouts gathered at the Brick Township Reservoir earlier this month to raise awareness about domestic violence.
The Scouts also helped raise funds to help families who are escaping abusive situations, by gathering donations for Dottie’s House, a shelter and safe haven for victims of domestic violence. And they walked a 1.6-mile lap around the reservoir to say, ”Sock It To Domestic Violence,” organizers said.
More than 50 Scouts plus their leaders and family members participated in the awareness walk, and a member of Dottie’s House staff, Lisa Farnkopf, met with the group to thank the girls, organizers say.
