Brick Partners With Lab To Offer Free Coronavirus Testing

The drive-up testing is available only to Brick Township residents and begins Monday.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township officials have partnered with a laboratory to provide free coronavirus testing to Brick Township residents, Mayor John G. Ducey announced.

The testing will be conducted by a self-contained mobile testing unit from Ridgewood Diagnostic Laboratories, and will begin conducting testing starting Monday.

Ridgewood Laboratories will accept insurance and not require a co-pay. People without insurance will be tested and the lab will bill for that reimbursement through the CARES Act, Ducey said.

Testing will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, at Brick Beach 3, on Route 35 north on the barrier island. It was not immediately clear whether the testing will extend beyond next week.

Appointments can be made through an electronic device or online, but appointments are not required. There will be two lines with two tents. They can test about 100 people in an 8-hour day. Cars will pull up, the person will get tested and then drive out of the lot.

Brick Township has seen a significant increase in the number of cases of the coronavirus. As of Wednesday morning, there have been 2,904 positive cases in Brick, up 130 from Sunday, according to the Ocean County Health Department.

Ducey said information on how to schedule an appointment will be posted on the township's Facebook page.
