Brick Man Carrying Fake Gun Prompts Schools' Lockdown: Police
Breaking: Emma Havens and Drum Point were on lockdown after store clerk saw the gun in the man's waistband and called police, police said.

BRICK, NJ -- A Brick Township man was arrested Friday afternoon after a clerk at a convenience store saw a gun in his waistband, police said Friday night.
Daniel Mizner Jr, 22, of Brick, is facing weapons charges and disorderly conduct in the incident, which prompted a lockdown at Drum Point and Emma Havens elementary schools, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.
Police were called to the 7-Eleven at 108 Lake Shore Way about noon for a report of a man with a gun in his waistband, he said. The subject purchased cigarettes and made no statements or threats, left the store and rode his bicycle from the store towards Brick Boulevard northbound, the clerk told police. The subject was described as white male, early 20s wearing a green shirt and white pants, Pedersen said.

Emma Havens and Drum Point were immediately advised and put on lockdown as police officers flooded the area, he said.
Witnesses told officers that the subject matching that description was seen on Drum Point Road in the area of the Police Athletic League, possibly heading into the neighborhood behind the building, Pedersen said.

Officer Dan Fogarty saw a man matching the subject's description riding a bicycle on Jackson Avenue and approached him as Officer Robert Koch arrived, Pedersen said. Officers determined he had a revolver-type imitation handgun in his waistband that they took from him, Pedersen said.
Mizner was charged with possession of an imitation firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct, and released on a summons under the guidelines of bail reform, Pedersen said.
The students were never at risk of harm as Mizner was located within two minutes of the initial call to police, Pedersen said.
