Brick Man Charged In Fatal Lakewood Hit-And-Run: Report

Breaking: The accident Friday killed a woman from Lakewood, the report said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident Friday that killed a Lakewood woman, according to a report.

The Asbury Park Press reported Jose Espinoza, 55, of Brick, has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and causing death while driving with a suspended license.

Lakewood police said the crash happened near the intersection of Cedar Bridge Avenue and South Clover Street when a vehicle struck a pedal cyclist, according to the report. The pedal cyclist, who has not been identified yet, was found dead at the scene by a passerby who called police, the report said.

Police found a vehicle matching one seen fleeing the scene at an apartment complex, then traced Espinosa to Jackson, the report said.
