Brick police said Timothy Gandy, 33, drove off after the crash, but police caught up to him and arrested him.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man is facing multiple charges after he left the scene of a crash on the Garden State Parkway on Monday, police said.
Timothy Gandy, 33, was involved in a crash on the Parkway about 9 p.m. Monday, but drove off while the victim was calling police, Sgt. Jim Kelly said.
Patrolman Evan Mancini found a silver Nissan Sentra with heavy front end damage and its airbags deployed in the parking lot at Lanes Mill Elementary School, unoccupied, and began searching for the driver.

Patrolman Michael Zolezi Jr. found a man, later identified as Gandy, walking north on Lanes Mill Road, and determined he was the driver. While Zolezi was asking Gandy about the crash and any potential injuries he might be suffering from, Gandy took off, Kelly said.
Zolezi grabbed Gandy’s arms, but Gandy slipped out of his jacket and ran, leaving his jacket behind. Gandy ran into the Greenwood Loop apartment complex, with Zolezi and Patrolman Mark Storch giving chase. They quickly found Gandy hiding in the woods near Sawmill Creek, Kelly said.
