Brick Man Dies In Workplace Accident: Police

The man was working on a scissor lift that came in contact with electrical wires, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A Brick Township man died Tuesday afternoon when when the lift he was operating came in contact with electrical wires, electrocuting him and causing him to fall 20 feet, police said.

Kevin McAdorey, 58, was operating a scissor lift while doing work at Middletown Village Mall on Route 35 when the lift came in contact with power lines, police said.

Police were called just before 12:30 p.m. and found McAdorey on the ground unconscious after falling from the lift and the motorized lift 20 feet in the air, police said.

McAdorey was rushed by Middletown EMS to Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, but was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The incident is under investigation by Middletown Police as well as the Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) based in Avenel.
