Ramelo Adonis is accused of helping Ciara Williams get rid of evidence in the stabbing, her attorney says the stabbing was in self defense.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man is accused of helping a woman get rid of evidence after she fatally stabbed her fiance, an act her attorney says was in self defense.
Ramelo Adonis, 37, was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with hindering apprehension in connection with the fatal stabbing on Sunday of Dennis Power, 35, of Brick, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Police Chief James Riccio said in a joint announcement.
Ciara Williams, 27, is accused of stabbing Power, her fiance, during an argument in their apartment on Sunday, and then driving him to the hospital and leaving him, bleeding and unconscious, sitting in the vehicle.

Williams turned herself in to authorities on Monday evening and is facing murder and weapons charges. Her attorney, Alton D. Kenney of Toms River, on Tuesday afternoon said Williams will be pleading not guilty by reason of self-defense. He said Williams was beaten by Power before the stabbing happened.
Authorities allege Adonis helped Williams destroy and remove evidence from the crime scene, but did not specify what that entailed. Nearby residents saw police and investigators searching nearby back yards on Sunday evening.

Adonis was processed at Brick Township Police Headquarters and released pending a future court date, authorities said.
In 2017, Williams testified against her former boyfriend, James Fair, when Fair stood trial on charges of operating a criminal ring in Asbury Park in 2013 and 2014 as a member of the Bloods gang, NJ.com reported.
She was arrested along with more than two dozen others in Operation Dead End in 2014, and was facing racketeering, shoplifting and conspiracy charges in the case. She pleaded guilty and agreed to testify as part of a deal with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the report said. Fair was convicted of 78 charges and sentenced to 82 years in jail in that case, NJ.com reported.
