Brick Man Hit, Killed Thanksgiving Night

A Brick Township man was killed Thursday evening when he was hit by a car while crossing Brick Boulevard, police said.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, , Brick Township Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.

Helen Walling, 75, was southbound on Brick Boulevard in a 1999 Toyota Camry about 8:30 p.m. approaching the intersection of Chambersbridge Road when her car hit the man, who was crossing the road a few hundred feet north of the intersection, Pedersen said.

The car hit the man in the middle lane of the road, he said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Patrolman Michael Demaio, Patrolman Michael Zolezi and Patrolman James Bartolucci responded to the initial call; Pedersen and Patroman Scott Dierking from the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene for further investigation, Pedersen said.
