Brick Man, Howell Man Face Heroin Charges After Drug Deal: Police
Police witnessed the transaction; one man had crack cocaine and $1,000 on him, they said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man and a Howell man were arrested Thursday evening after Brick police witnessed a drug transaction, police said.
Lt. Vincent Pacitti of the Brick Township Police Department said members of the Selective Enforcement Team saw a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the area of Herbertsville Road and Millbrook Road about 5:15 p.m.
The two men left the area in separate vehicles and went in different directions, he said.

Police pulled over one vehicle in the area of Herbertsville Road and Maple Avenue, and the driver, Derek Brian, 31, of Howell, admitted purchasing heroin for $50, Pacitti said. The heroin was recovered and Brian was arrested.
The second vehicle was stopped in the area of Sawmill Road and its driver, Tyshawn Morris, 25, of Brick, was arrested, Pacitti said. Morris was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, marijuana and more than $1,000 in cash, he said.

Brian was charged with possession of heroin and possession of CDS paraphernalia, and was released with a summons.
Morris was charged with distribution of heroin, distribution of heroin within 1000 feet of a school zone, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Morris is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of $85,000 bail with no 10 percent option as set by Brick Township Municipal Judge Joseph Grisanti.
