Alphonse Gilio, 52, suffered minor injuries, police said

A Brick Township man suffered minor injuries after his Jeep hit a utility pole on Fischer Boulevard in Toms River on Monday, police said.
Alphonse Gilio, 52, of Chambersbridge Road, suffered a minor back injury when his 2002 Jeep struck a utility pole on the southbound side of Fischer Boulevard. He told police at the scene that he remembers being sleepy and then striking the pole, Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said.
Gilio was trapped in the vehicle due to the damage to the Jeep and had to be cut out by fire company personnel, Stocco said. Gilio was treated at Community Medical Center and later released, he said.
