Brick Man Injured When Driver Flees After Drug Deal: Police
The driver sped off as police tried to stop the vehicle; the driver hit another car, killing that car's driver.

A Brick Township man was injured and arrested on drug charges in Trenton Monday after the driver of the vehicle fled police after a drug deal, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said Tuesday.
The incident also killed a 22-year-old Trenton woman whose car was hit by the fleeing vehicle, police said.
Harry Remington III, 25, of Brick, and Lawrence Sears, 28, of Manchester, both were passengers in a Chevy Trailblazer driven by Chandler Heaviside, 22, of Jackson, Onofri said.

The chase began when the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Unit attempted to stop a gray Chevy Trailblazer after seeing a drug deal while conducting an investigation in Trenton around 10 p.m., police said.
The vehicle fled the scene and police gave chase, with their emergency lights and siren on. Police say they chased the vehicle until they reached the area of the Whitehorse Circle in Hamilton Township. At that point, police say they backed off, but the Chevy continued north on Broad Street.

The Chevy then ran a red light at the intersection of Broad Street and Park Avenue, hitting the passenger side of a Honda Civic that was attempting to turn left on Park Avenue. The Civic struck a telephone pole, police said. Deja Farrior was extricated from the Civic and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
At the time of the accident, Heaviside got out of the Chevy and fled on foot, police said. He was eventually captured by State Police, with the help of the Trenton Police Street Crimes Unit. At the time he was captured, police say they found him in possession of heroin.
Sears and Remington were both treated and released from the hospital. Each was issued a summons for drug possession for a bundle of heroin located on the car floorboard, police said.
Heaviside is charged with drug possession, death by auto while under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, leaving the scene of an accident involving death, causing death while driving with a suspended license, assault by auto and eluding.
State Police, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hamilton Township Police Department continue to investigate the matter.
