Brick Man Shoots At Cop, Then Himself: Prosecutor
Corey Johnson broke into his ex-wife's home on Monday morning, where he shot at a cop before shooting himself in the head, officials said.
BRICK, NJ — A Brick man is in critical condition after breaking into his ex-wife's house and shooting at a police officer before shooting himself in the head, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
At about 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 14, Brick police received a 911 call from a woman saying that she had seen on her Ring doorbell that her ex-husband, Corey Johnson, 28, had broken into her Judy Court house, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
After getting the notification, the woman left her workplace and was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher when she arrived at the parking lot of her residence, Billhimer said.

At that time, Johnson had left the home, and pulled his car in front of hers, blocking her in, Billhimer said.
A Brick police officer arrived on the scene and when he left his car Johnson left his car as well, firing a shot in the officer's direction, Billhimer said.

The bullet struck the cop car's windshield and the officer was uninjured, Billhimer said.
Immediately after firing the shot, Johnson turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head, Billhimer said.
Police rendered aid and Johnson was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition, Billhimer said.
Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
