Brick Man Struck, Injured Crossing Street In Greenbriar: Police

Michael Falcone, 75, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man was injured Monday when he was hit by a car as he crossed a street in the Greenbriar 1 community, police said.

Michael Falcone, 75, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment of internal injuries, Brick Patrolman David Thergesen said.

Falcone was hit shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, Thergesen said. Joyce Asay, 82, of Brick, was driving a 2014 Subaru Legacy west on Blake Circle toward The Boulevard and Falcone was walking east on Blake Circle.

Asay stopped at the intersection of Blake Circle and The Boulevard as Falcone began to cross the street, then began to turn right onto The Boulevard, hitting Falcone in the intersection, Thergesen said.

Asay was not injured, he said.

Traffic on The Boulevard northbound was reduced to one lane for about five hours while the Brick Township Traffic Safety Unit investigated, he said. Brick Township patrol units and the police Emergency Medical Services responded as well.

Patrolman Daniel Fogarty is investigating. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to call him at 732-262-1141.
