Brick Mayor Nominated To Superior Court Judgeship By Murphy
John G. Ducey has been nominated to become a Superior Court judge by Gov. Phil Murphy.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township Mayor John G. Ducey has been nominated by Gov. Phil Murphy to become a Superior Court judge.
Ducey said he was nominated by Murphy about 5:30 p.m. Monday, but said it is just the start of the process.
"I still have to go through another background check, the Senate Judiciary Committee, senatorial courtesy and the full Senate," Ducey said.

There was no timeline on when he might be confirmed.
"I'm excited that I have made it to this point but it's still a bit off before an appointment happens," Ducey said Tuesday afternoon.

He was elected mayor of Brick in 2013 and has won re-election twice, with his current term as mayor due to end in 2025. He served on the Township Council for two years before being elected mayor.
