Brick Memorial Bounces Back To Beat Jackson Memorial 10-6

The Mustangs picked up a solid win against Jackson Memorial.

After suffering a tough loss the night before, the Mustangs were able to get back on track with a solid win against Jackson Memorial 10-6.

The Mustangs got the start that they were looking for, as they opened up a

6-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Scoring all of their runs with two outs and knocking Jackson’s starter out of the game.

Sophomore Nick Stephan started on the mound for the Mustangs and held Jackson to four runs, over six innings, while striking out three, and only allowing one walk. The sophomore picked up the win for the Mustangs.

Jackson got one run back in the bottom of the third to make it a 6-1 ball game and scored three more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to trim the deficit to two runs.

The Mustangs answered right back in the top of the 5th inning scoring four runs to push their lead to 10-4. Brick loaded the bases without getting a hit, Senior Dylan Nolan reached first base by getting hit by a pitch and Seniors Dave Clark and Nick Reyes drew walks. Nolan scored on another walk from Senior Teddy Gonzalez and Senior Justin Bates also walked to bring in Clark. Senior Andrew LaRosa singled to centerfield bringing in Reyes. Senior Dylan Evans hit a sac fly to push their lead to 10-4.

Junior Ray Lutick came into pitch in the bottom of the 7th inning and finished the game off after Jackson picked up two more runs in the inning to make it 10-6.

Jackson out hit the Mustangs but, they made Jackson pay, as they walked eight times leading to many scoring chances for the Mustangs.

LaRosa finished the day 2-5 with three RBIs and Evans picked up two hits and two RBIs. Reyes went a perfect 3-3 and walked once. The Mustangs record improves to 12-7 and will host Toms River South tomorrow at 3:45.
