Brick Memorial Grad Earns Collegiate Lacrosse Honor

Marie Moore and four of her Colorado University teammates earned postseason honors, the school announced.

BOULDER, Colo. -- A Brick Township woman is one of five members of the Colorado lacrosse team who were named all-conference on Wednesday in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation season awards, the university announced.

Marie Moore, a junior midfielder and a 2013 graduate of Brick Memorial High School, was an all-conference first-team selection, according to a news release from the university.

Moore, a three-year starter who has been a co-captain of the Buffaloes since her freshman year, started all 16 games this season and had 12 goals, eight assists, 47 draw controls, 28 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers. She leads the Buffaloes in draw controls and is second in caused turnovers and third in ground balls. In the MPSF, she is fourth in draw controls and fifth in caused turnovers.

Moore had a season-high four caused turnovers in a win over Central Connecticut on March 5 and recorded her season high of six draw controls on March 21 in a win over Marist. She was a second-team all-MPSF selection in 2014 and 2015.

She had been a prolific scorer in high school, recording 202 goals and 168 assists over three season while earning first-team All-Shore and third-team All-State and team MVP honors her junior year with the Mustangs. She missed her senior season at Brick Memorial while rehabbing from a torn ACL.

Moore was joined in receiving first-team honors by Buffaloes teammates Darby Kiernan and Sarah Brown, while Johnna Fusco and Paige Soenksen were named to the second team, according to the news release.
