Brick MUA Issues Water Conservation Request
Dry weather, hot days putting pressure on Metedeconk River; the MUA serves Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach, and part of Howell, too.

BRICK, NJ — Residents are being asked to conserve water by the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority as unrelenting heat and a lack of rain put pressure on water supplies.
The MUA "relies on the Metedeconk River as its primary water source," the authority said in a news release. "Due to unusually dry weather this spring into summer, we are seeing extremely low river flows."
The Brick MUA serves residents in Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach and part of Howell Township in addition to Brick Township.

The conservation measures are voluntary, the MUA said, but are important as the authority tries to balance demand with the low river flows for the remainder of the summer and the fall.
"We hope that our residents will help by participating in this voluntary program, which uses a good old-fashioned common sense approach to household water use," the MUA said.

The ways they are asking residents to conserve water include:
- Refraining from lawn watering, washing cars, and power washing.
- Running your dishwasher and washing machine with full loads
- Checking your outside hose connections and faucets to make sure water is not leaking
- Turning down your faucets and showers when in use. You can get the same result from using water at less than full flow. Take shorter showers.
- Checking for leaking faucets and toilets
