Brick Offering Free Sand Bags To Help Guard Against Flooding

Residents in low-lying areas are urged to take precautions with major coastal flooding possible this weekend, according to forecasters.

BRICK, NJ -- The Brick Township Department of Public Works is offering free sand bags and sand to township residents for the potential storm this weekend.

Major coastal flooding is a significant possibility with the nor’easter, which is expected to add a storm surge of up to 5 feet on top of what are predicted to be 20-foot tides, according to the National Weather Service’s forecast discussion.

The result could be significant flooding along both oceanfront and bayside areas, particularly in low-lying areas that flood frequently, the forecasters say.
