Brick Pedestrian Hurt In Car Accident: Police

A 26-year-old man was hurt Sunday when he was hit by a car in Brick, police said.

A 26-year-old man was hurt Sunday when he was hit by a car in Brick, police said.

The incident happened before 3:01 a.m., when Patrolman David Thergesen responded to Lanes Mill Road, in the area of Stephan Road, for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Thergesen determined that Joseph Lewis, 34, of Lakewood was operating his 2012 Chrysler 200 southbound on Lanes Mill Road and had just passed Stephan Road when the accident happened, police said.

The pedestrian, identified as Patrick Brennan, 26, of Brick stepped into the right lane near Brick Liquors. Lewis struck the pedestrian in the right southbound lane in front of Brick Liquors and he immediately called 911, police said. He remained on scene to await police arrival.

The Brick Police First Aid Squad responded with MONOC paramedics and transported Brennan to Jersey Shore Medical Center for a head injury. The road was closed during the investigation and reopened for traffic at 5:45 a.m.

The Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene for the further investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
