Brick Police Chase, Arrest Man After Video Shows Him In Apartment

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man has been charged with burglary after he was arrested with women's clothing and jewelry after he was seen on video breaking into an apartment, police said Monday.

Joshua R. Guarino, 34, was arrested Nov. 14, Patrol Officer Victoria Finelli said. He is charged with burglary, theft, obstruction, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting arrest and interference with transportation, she said.

Police were called to Kentwood Village Apartments after a resident saw a man in the apartment via security camera, Finelli said.

The victim described the man and police responding saw the man running from the apartment, she said. Patrolman Matt Farnkopf ordered the man to stop, but he refused and continued to run, but Farnkopf chased him down and apprehended him on Route 70, she said.

Guarino was found to be in possession of women’s clothing and jewelry, Finelli said, but only some of the items in Guarino’s possession were claimed by the victim whose apartment he was seen running from.

Brick Township police believe there are additional victims. Anyone with information on Guarino is asked to contact Detective Ryan Talty at 732-262-1170.

Guarino was processed at Brick Township Police Headquarters and taken to the Ocean County Jail, Toms River. He has since been released, according to jail records.
