Brick Police Issue Reminders On Illegal Fireworks
Sparklers are legal now but bottle rockets and firecrackers are not; Brick police said they are "aggressively enforcing" laws on fireworks.

BRICK, NJ — If you're thinking of buying bottle rockets and firecrackers to celebrate the July 4th holiday, Brick Township police have a message for you: Don't.
In a post on Facebook, township police said they are "aggressively enforcing" New Jersey's fireworks laws and monitoring sales in the township.
"Please be aware that, ALL fireworks are NOT legal in NJ," the post said.

A flyer police shared on the post shows examples of what items are legal and what are not, with sparklers and certain novelties legal to use. Bottle rockets and reloadable Roman candles, among other items, are illegal to buy or possess in New Jersey.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, fireworks were involved in an estimated 11,100 injuries treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments during 2016.

"Sparklers are legal, however they burn at over 1000 degrees (and are) capable of causing serious injuries," police said.
