Brick Police Join Ring's Neighbors App To Connect With Residents
Police are participating in the app to be able to ask residents for video surveillance footage that can help them solve crimes.
BRICK, NJ — If you are a Brick Township resident who uses the Neighbors app by Ring, you have a new friend on the app: Brick Township police.

"Residents’ right to privacy and the privacy of the Neighbors by Ring users is of the utmost importance to the Brick Township Police Department," the department said in announcing its access to the program.
The Neighbors by Ring program does not allow anyone — including police — to access to camera footage without the owner's permission, Brick police said.

It does, however, allow police to interact with residents who have cameras. It enables police to send out requests for videos in targeted geographical areas and specific time frames, which can help investigators.
"Several cases of criminal activity, motor vehicle accidents and other incidents have been successfully solved due to the ability to view footage users have shared from those who have security cameras on their premises," police said.
