Brick Police Make Drug, DWI Arrests
Street Crimes Unit detectives arrested 10 people over a three-week period, police said.

BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit made several arrests in the last three weeks, police said.
Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly provided the following information:
On May 21 at about midnight, SCU detectives saw motor vehicle violations and suspicious activity in the actions of a subject later identified as Anthony Alexander, 26, of Waretown. A search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia related to heroin use. Alexander was charged with possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle, and a motor vehicle violation. Alexander was taken to the Ocean County Jail.

On May 24, SCU detectives saw two known subjects leaving the parking lot of Walmart, one of whom had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. They saw the vehicle speed through a red light and detectives called for patrol officers to pull it over. K-9 Officer Scott Smith conducted the stop and the sniff by his K-9 Echo indicated contraband in the vehicle. The search turned up wax folds used to package heroin. Devin Gadson Jr., 30, of Lakewood, and Karon Reid, 32, of Brick, were arrested and charged with possession of heroin and paraphernalia. Gadson, the driver, was also charged with possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, contempt of court, and a motor vehicle violation. Both were released on summonses.
On May 26 at 7 p.m., SCU detectives saw a hand-to-hand transaction in the parking lot of Walmart on Route 88. The two people involved were identified as Charles Crane, 66, of Point Pleasant, and Jacquelin Kelly, 42, of Brick. Both were arrested. Crane was charged with possession of heroin, and Kelly was charged with possession and distribution of heroin. Both subjects were released on a summons.

On June 1 at 7 p.m., SCU detectives pulled over a vehicle that was driving erratically, swerving, coming close to causing collisions, and driving dangerously. The investigation led to the driver, Dawn Lamb, 56, of Lakewood, being arrested and charged with DWI and several other related motor vehicle offenses.
On June 8 at 6 p.m., while conducting surveillance in the parking lot of Walmart on Route. 88, SCU detectives saw suspicious activity involving three people in a vehicle. With the help of patrol officers and K-9 Officer Scott Smith, a motor vehicle stop was conducted and a K-9 sniff by Echo indicated contraband in the vehicle. The ensuing search revealed methamphetamine, syringes, other paraphernalia and methadone.
The driver, Debra Deitrich, 49, of Turnersville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, possession of a CDS in a motor vehicle, and motor vehicle violations. She was released on a summons. Passenger James Forson Jr., 46, of Pennsville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, Subutex, paraphernalia, and being under the influence. Forson was taken to the Ocean County Jail. The other passenger, Jason Deitrich, 46, of Turnersville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia, and with being under the influence of a CDS. He was taken to Ocean County Jail.
Later that same night, at 10:30 p.m., SCU detectives stopped a vehicle for traffic violations. K-9 Officer Smith and his partner Echo assisted, and a sniff indicated contraband inside the vehicle. The search revealed a plastic bag with a quantity of crack. Terry Ravonn, 34, of South Toms River, was charged with possession of crack and paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
On June 9, SCU detectives found a man who was wanted, Thomas Girone, 33, of Brick, in his garage. Girone refused to come out of the garage at first, but the detectives were able to convince him to open the garage door and come out. Detectives saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and a search revealed crack, more than 100 wax folds of packaged heroin, crack pipes, syringes, a digital scale, stamp kits, and hundreds of empty wax folds, all indicating an operation of packaging and distribution.
Girone was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of crack, possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful disposition of a CDS, being under the influence of a CDS, obstruction of justice, and he was cited with the four active warrants out for his arrest. Girone was taken to the Ocean County Jail.
