Brick Police Officer Accused Of DWI With Kids In Car: Prosecutor

The officer was arrested in August; he had his three children with him, the prosecutor's office confirmed.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township police officer has been charged with driving while intoxicated and child endangerment after a traffic stop in August, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office confirmed Friday evening.

Daniel P. Testa, 40, was arrested Aug. 16 after Brick police pulled him over near the intersection of Drum Point Road and Old Hooper Avenue at 9:44 p.m., Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer confirmed Friday night.

The arrest was first reported by NJ.com and the Asbury Park Press.

Testa was driving a pickup truck and had his three children with him when he was pulled over after police saw him speeding and driving erratically, Billhimer confirmed.

Testa has been suspended without pay, he confirmed. Testa's salary is $92,666, the two reports said.

Testa was hired by the Brick Township Police Department in July 2014 and finished his Ocean County Police Academy training in January 2015. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, including two deployments in Iraq, and was honorably discharged in 2009.

Billhimer said Testa's case is awaiting review by a grand jury.
