Brick Rally Shows Support For March For Our Lives: Photos

As hundreds of thousands of students marched around the country, in Brick a group of grandparents marshaled their own show of support.

BRICK, NJ — While thousands of students marched around New Jersey and the United States on Saturday, calling for stricter gun laws, there were thousands of adults supporting them.

Some made their presence felt and seen at the larger March for Our Lives events that were sister events to the national march in Washington, DC.

Others, however, kept their support local, reminding neighbors that gun violence affects every age group, every race, and every community.

That's what drew 50 people to the Brick Housing Authority apartment complex on Chambersbridge Road on Saturday morning to participate in a Grandparents March for Our GrandStudents, as it was named by organizer Ron Jampel.

Holding signs and chanting "Hey, hey, ho, ho, assault rifles haeve to go," the group of mostly senior citizens caught the attention of motorists who honked as they drove by and sent messages alerting Patch to the event.

Many of the participants were from the apartment complex, Jampel said, but others came to participate because they had been looking for an opportunity to participate in a march.
