Brick Resident Named National Merit Commended Scholar

Ryan Deroschers, who attends Christian Brothers Academy in Middletown, was one of nine students from the school honored

A Brick Township resident is among nine students at Christian Brothers Academy who were named commended students in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship program, according to a news release from the school.

The commended students are Ryan Desrochers of Brick, Christian Bischoff of Jackson, Michael Cornette of Rumson, Ajay Handa of Tinton Falls, Ankur Kumar of Toms River, Christopher Largey of Colts Neck, Slater Richardson of Red Bank, Nicholas Rizzo of Colts Neck, and Robert Treval of Jackson. All nine are members of the Class of 2015 at the school, located in the Lincroft section of Middletown Township, the release said.

Approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
