Brick School Board Moves Monthly Meetings

The location change will reduce conflicts with student events, the board president said.

BRICK. NJ — If you are planning to attend Brick Township Board of Education meetings in the coming months, be sure you check the schedule and doublecheck the site.

The board has moved the site of the meetings to the school district's Professional Development Center in the district's administration building, primarily to reduce scheduling conflicts for student events.

After years of holding the meetings primarily at Brick Township High School, where 10 or 15 people on average file into the auditorium, the decision was made to move to the administration building at the Veterans Memorial school complex. The Professional Development Center does not have night events, where at Brick High School the meetings at times disrupted the school's Drama Club rehearsals, Board President Stephanie Wohlrab said.

For meetings that draw larger audiences, such as sports awards nights and when the teachers and education support professionals of the year are honored, a larger space would likely be used, a district official confirmed.

If you've never been to the administration building or the Veterans Memorial school complex, it's located off Van Zile Road. Go north on (Temple Beth Or is on the corner) and the administration building is the first you encounter in the complex. The Professional Development Center is at the end closest to Veterans Memorial Elementary School. Veterans Memorial Middle School stands by itself on the opposite side of the complex.
