Brick School Board Postpones Meeting
A lack of a quorum leaves the board unable to conduct business; meeting will be rescheduled.

Brick, NJ -- The Brick Township Board of Education postponed its meeting Thursday evening due to a lack of a quorum.
Board President John Lamela offered an apology to those in attendance, saying the lack of a quorum, caused by four members being unable to attend the meeting, was an unforeseen circumstance. The board has seven members and requires four in attendance to conduct business.
Two board members had notified him previously that they were unable to attend due to personal issues, Lamela said, but on Thursday afternoon an additional member notified him of being unable to attend due to an emergency. The fourth member had been trying to make it to the meeting, Lamela said, but work obligations prevented it.

Interim Superintendent Thomas Gialanella said the meeting would be rescheduled as soon as possible.
"We will be polling the board members tomorrow (Friday) to find a date," he said. Once an agreeable date is found, the meeting will be advertised and posted on the district website, a minimum of 48 hours ahead of the meeting date.
