Brick Schools 2016-17 Calendar: What You Need To Know

Back-to-school nights, locker nights, and holiday weeks.

BRICK, NJ —Now that school is back in session in New Jersey, every parent wonders when their children will receive report cards. Or you might be wondering exactly when you'll have them home for winter break.

School districts in New Jersey are required to be in session for 180 days. The Brick Township School District calendar has 180 days scheduled for students, meaning there are no buffers for emergency closings. If extra days are needed, they will be added to the end of the school year.

  • Sept. 6 First Day of School for Students
  • Sept. 13 Back-to-School Night, Brick Township High School, 6 p.m.; Lanes Mill School, 6 p.m. grades 1-2, 7 p.m. grades 3-5
  • Sept. 14 Back-to-School Night, Brick Memorial High School, 6 p.m.; Emma Havens Young school, 6 p.m. grades 1-2, 7 p.m. grades 3-5
  • Sept. 15 Back-to-School Night, Lake Riviera and Veterans Memorial Middle schools, 7th and 8th grade only, 6 p.m.
  • Sept. 20 Back-to-School Night, Drum Point Elementary School, 6 p.m. grades 1-2, 7 p.m. grades 3-5
  • Sept. 21 Back-to-School Night, Midstreams Elementary, 6:30 p.m. all grades
  • Sept. 22 Back-to-School Night, Osbornville School, 6 p.m. grades 1-2, 7 p.m. grades 3-5
  • Sept. 26 Back-to-School Night, Warren H. Wolf school, 6 p.m. grades 1-2
  • Sept. 27 Back-to-School Night, Veterans Memorial Elementary School, 6 p.m. all grades
  • Sept. 28 Back-to-School Night, Herbertsville School, 6 p.m., all grades
  • Oct. 3 Rosh Hashanah — School Closed
  • Oct. 7 First marking period progress reports
  • Oct. 10 Columbus Day — School Closed
  • Oct. 12 Yom Kippur — School Closed
  • Nov. 9 First marking period ends (report cards distributed at parent-teacher conferences)
  • Nov. 10-11 NJEA Convention — School Closed
  • Nov. 21-22 Parent Conferences — Early Dismissal
  • Nov. 23 Thanksgiving — Early Dismissal
  • Nov. 24-25 Thanksgiving — School Closed
  • Dec. 16 Second marking period progress reports
  • Dec. 23 Winter Break — Early Dismissal
  • Dec. 24-Jan. 2 Winter Break — School Closed
  • Jan. 16 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day — School Closed
  • Jan. 27 Second marking period ends (report cards Feb. 3)
  • Feb. 17-20 Presidents' Weekend — School Closed
  • March 3 Third marking period progress reports
  • March 31 Third marking period ends (report cards April 7)
  • April 8-17 Spring Break — School Closed
  • May 12 Fourth marking period progress reports
  • May 29 Memorial Day — School Closed
  • June 14 Early Dismissal
  • *June 15 Last Day of School — Early Dismissal

*There are no emergency closing days built into the calendar this year. If schools are closed due to snow or other emergency issues, the days will be added to the end of the school year. If the number of closures exceeds six days, those extra days will be taken from spring recess upon approval of the Board of Education
