BRICK, NJ — It may seem like summer just started, but sadly, Labor Day is nearing and so is the start of the new school year.
Here is the Brick Township School District calendar for 2019-2020, including orientation dates, back-to-school nights and winter and spring breaks.
Take note: The calendar has 180 scheduled days for students, 183 scheduled for staff members. There are no emergency closure days built into this year's calendar, so any closings due to bad weather will be added to the end of the school year. The first day of school for students is Wednesday, Sept. 4.

- Aug. 27: Sixth-grade locker night, Lake Riviera and Veterans Memorial middle schools, 6 p.m.
- Aug. 28: Kindergarten orientation, 6 p.m. Drum Point, Emma Havens, Herbertsville, Lanes Mill, Midstreams, Osbornville, Veterans Memorial elementary schools.
- Aug. 28: Pre-K orientation, Warren Wolf Elementary School, 5 p.m.
- Sept. 3: Staff professional development day.
- Sept. 4: First day of school for students.
- Sept. 5: Back-to-School Night, Herbertsville Elementary, 6:30 p.m.
- Sept. 9: Back-to-School Night, Osbornville; Grades 1-2, 6 p.m.; Grades 3-5, 7 p.m.
- Sept. 10: Back-to-School Night, Veterans Elementary; 6 p.m.
- Sept. 16: Back-to-School Night, Lanes Mill; Grades 1-2, 6 p.m.; Grades 3-5, 7 p.m.

- Nov. 21-22: Early dismissal, parent conferences
- Nov. 27: Early dismissal, Thanksgiving
- Nov. 28-29: Schools closed for Thanksgiving
- Dec. 23-Jan. 1: Schools closed for winter break
- Jan. 2: Classes resume.
- Jan. 20: Schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Jan. 29-30: High school exams; early dismissal for high schools only
- Jan. 31: Schools closed for staff professional development day
- Feb. 17: Schools closed for Presidents' Day
