Brick School's Classes Win National Book Contest

The classes at Lanes Mill Elementary School are among 21 that have received the award, the company says.

Brick, NJ -- A group of students at Lanes Mill Elementary School are now award-winning published authors.

The Lanes Mill Elementary School classes of Raymond Giordano and Christine Curry were among 21 winners of the Studentreasures Publishing National Book Challenge.

The annual challenge awards teachers and students for creating hardbound books that demonstrate originality, as well as creative storyline and illustrations, through the company’s free student publishing program. The Lanes Mill classes were selected for their classbook, “Fractured Farytales & Fables,” according to a news release from Studentreasures.

The contest is open to school districts across the country, and the winners received $100 for their classrooms, the company said. 

“We’re thrilled to offer these creative educators and their students this prize money, totaling more than $1,800 for 18 classrooms in 14 states and provinces," said Chad Zimmerman, president and CEO of Studentreasures. "We know that our free program and the finished books instill pride, promote learning, and create lasting memories for these students. Being able to also provide a monetary award is an added benefit we can offer these incredibly dedicated teachers. In addition, they will always have their own colorful, hardbound books and the pride of being published authors for years to come."
