Brick Senior Taking Gymnastics Talents To U. Of Utah

Missy Reinstadtler is set to compete at the Nastia Liukin Cup in March at the Prudential Center.

BRICK, NJ -- Brick Township gymnast Missy Reinstadtler is heeding the call to head west.

Reinstadtler, a senior at Brick Township High School, has signed a national letter of intent to take her gymnastics skills to the University of Utah next fall.

Reinstadtler, who did not compete high school gymnastics and who carries a 96 GPA at Brick, signed her letter Nov. 11, during the early signing period. She will be competing for Utah, which was the 2015 NCAA national runner-up, on a full athletic scholarship and plans to major in pre-veterinary studies.

Reinstadtler, who trains at and competes for North Stars Gymnastics Academy in Boonton under coaches Tony Gehman, Ashley Miller Unberger and Anne Woynerowski Meade, has more club competitions ahead before she heads off to Utah this summer. On Feb. 5 at the Pike’s Peak Cup in Colorado Springs, Colo., she qualified for the prestigious Nastia Liukin Cup being held March 4 at the Prudential Center in Newark. The Liukin Cup is a USA Gymnastics-sponsored event for Level 10 gymnasts in the Junior Olympic program.

Reinstadtler was the 2013 Junior Olympics national floor champion and later qualified as a Junior International Elite gymnast and competed in the American Classic, Secret US Classic and P&G National Championships.
