BRICK, NJ — Renovations at Bayside Park on the barrier island have finally been completed, and the ribbon-cutting for the park has been scheduled for Oct. 5.

Bayside Park, on Route 35 South in the Normandy Beach section, had languished since Superstorm Sandy. The park was in need of repairs prior to the destruction wreaked by Sandy — in August 2012 the Township Council had approved seeking bids for the work, which was to include bulkhead repairs and new playground equipment — but that work was postponed in the face of urgent repairs needed following the storm.

The park finally got its funding for renovations in 2019.

The renovations include new playground equipment and safety surfacing; 2 shade structures; boardwalk decking and paver patio area; fish bait cleaning station; walkways; lighting; utilities; irrigation; security improvements; landscaping; and site furnishings (picnic tables, benches, bike rack).

Green Acres hearings on the plan to request funding were held in 2017; this is a supplemental request, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection.
