Brick Soccer Player Headed To England

Trinitie Maloney, 10, who's a goalkeeper, has been selected to the Next Gen USA Select team, which will spend eight days in England.

BRICK, NJ — A 10-year-old from Brick Township has earned a spot on a soccer team that is scheduled to travel to England in April.

Trinitie Maloney, a goalkeeper who has played for the Twin County Rage and PDA Shore, has earned a spot to play for NextGen USA Select team. Trinitie, who started playing goalkeeper for the Rage at age 6, has been the starting goalkeeper on the U-10 RDS Winter Showcase team, U-11 EDP Division 1 PDA Shore, and U-11 RDS Summer Showcase team. She was also invited the NextGen Regional ID Camp, and the EDP Pathway to College invitational.

The NextGen USA Select team gives players an opportunity to train and play against teams from other countries, and is scheduled to travel to England from April 8-April 16.

"This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, something she has dreamed of but never thought would come true," her mother, Shannon, said.

Along with her soccer accomplishments she is a straight A student in Excel classes, the 5th grade student council class representative, and a kindergarten helper. She is involved with the Daily Dish at school, and the book club.

Trinitie also is the older sister of Irelyn Maloney, the young girl from Brick who has been battling a genetic disorder that results in repeated illnesses. The Brick soccer community turned out in force for Irelyn in 2014 to give her the feeling of being part of a soccer team.
