BRICK, NJ — The Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit made the following arrests from mid-January through mid-February.

Jan. 13: David Edgar, 38, of Brick was arrested after detectives found several police-related items including handcuffs, a police baton and brass knuckles during a search of his vehicle after they saw a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at Quick Chek. Edgar was charged with possession of prohibited weapons and released on a summons.

Jan. 27: Melissa Medvitz, 25, of Toms River, and Myron Robinson, 26, of Eatontown, were arrested during a drug investigation by Brick detectives in cooperation with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Narcotics Strike Force and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit. Police pulled over a vehicle on Cedar Bridge Avenue near Mantoloking Road that Medvitz was driving. She was charged with possession of oxycodone and Xanax, distribution of Xanax and oxycodone and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Robinson, the passenger, was charged with conspiracy to possess a controlled dangerous substance, conspiracy to possess CDS, two counts of conspiracy to distribute CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both were processed and released on summonses.

Feb. 9: Dawn Simon, 54, of Brick, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop or yield and improper signal. Detectives conducting surveillance along Drum Point Road saw a vehicle swerving into the opposite lane, causing several other vehicles to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid a crash. Simon was driving 20 to 30 mph over the speed limit, used the left blinker to turn right and turned right at a red light without stopping at the intersection, police said. When authorities pulled her over, they determined Simon was under the influence of narcotics or prescription medication.

Feb. 11: Two people were arrested following separate motor vehicle stops near Lions Head Office Park, police said.

In the first, Vincent Infante, 30, of Seaside Heights, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and wandering in a public place to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons.

In the second, Horace Bland, 31, of Toms River, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Darion Showers, the driver, was charged with conspiracy to possess heroin with the intent to distribute, conspiracy to possess heroin, wandering in a public place to obtain a controlled dangerous substance and driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Both were taken to Ocean County Jail.

Feb. 14: Detectives arrested Nisar Ahmad, 64, of Cliffside Park, in the area of the Sweet Green Food Market and the Wine Shoppe on Hooper Avenue about 10 p.m. after they saw him behaving suspiciously. He was charged with loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance and released on a summons.

Feb. 15: About 6 p.m. detectives saw a hand-to-hand transaction in the Maple Leaf Condominium Complex. Zachariah McInturf, 31, of Brick, was pulled over, arrested and charged with loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance, and Anthony Connors, 36, of Brick, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on summonses.

Feb. 17: About 1:30 p.m. detectives saw suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Santander Bank on Beaverson Boulevard. The vehicle had several equipment violations and the passenger was littering out the window and was pulled out of the parking lot and Sgt. John Gordon stopped it. Detectives had Ocean County Sheriff’s K9 Officer Vosseller and his partner Duke respond to assist with the investigation, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of heroin, suboxone, crack, methamphetamines, black tar heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Some of the substances were packaged for resale.

Daniel Anderson, 32, of Point Pleasant, the driver, was charged with possession of heroin, suboxone, crack, methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and motor vehicle summonses. He was issued a warrant and taken to Ocean County Jail.

David Bell, 49, of Barnegat, the passenger, was charged with possession of heroin, suboxone, crack, methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and littering. Bell was issued a warrant and taken to Ocean County Jail.
