Brick Teachers, Students, Team Up Against Drugs In Basketball Fundraiser

The fundraiser, to support the Veterans Memorial Middle School peer program, also will be a chance to drop off unneeded prescription drugs.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township teachers will be facing off on the basketball court against students later this month to raise funds for the peer-led drug prevention program at Veterans Memorial Middle School.

The event, where teachers and students "Team Up Against Drugs," is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the middle school, 101 Hendrickson Ave., Brick, off Van Zile Road. Tickets for the event are $3 for adults, $2 for students.

The program, formerly known as "Lead & Seed" but recently renamed the DART Youth Prevention Coalition ant-drug program operates in conjunction with the Brick Township Police Department. The program empowers middle school students to help spread the message of avoiding drugs to their classmates. The program has been in the school district since 2015.

The police department also will have its mobile prescription drug drop box at the game to accept all unneeded prescription pills. You can deposit the pills anonymously; they are packaged and destroyed.
