NJ Teen Who Fatally Stabbed Father Sentenced: Prosecutor
Ibrahim Khater, 15, was sentenced for a Jan. 16 stabbing of his father, a popular cab driver, in addition to other charges.

BRICK, NJ — A 15-year-old Brick Township boy has been sentenced to 11 years of custody of the Juvenile Justice Commission in relation to the stabbing of his father, a popular cab driver, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Thursday in a news release.
Ibrahim Khater was also sentenced in connection with two previously entered guilty pleas of aggravated assault, throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer, and an unrelated robbery for which he had previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation.
On Jan. 16, 2021, Brick Township police officers responded to a 911 call of an apparent stabbing, officials said. Officers found Mohammed Khater, 38, of Brick Township, with a stab wound on the right side of his abdomen. Khater, a cab driver and bus driver for students with special needs also known as “Moe Cabbie,” was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, where he later died.

A later investigation from several departments indicated that Khater’s son was responsible, and the younger Khater was taken into custody on Jan. 16 and has been staying at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center since then.
The other two aggravated assault charges arose out of incidents that occurred at the detention center to which Khater has pleaded guilty, Ocean County prosecutors said. Prosecutors did not disclose Khater’s possible motives for stabbing his father.
