Employment: Retired Sony executive
Tell us about your public service (township boards, committees you sit on): Sit on the council's Business and Finance Committee
Any previous elected office (council, school board, etc)? How many years have you served? I have served four years on council. I have served on the Land Use Committee and Business and Finance Committee.
What conflicts would you have (what won't you be able to vote on) if elected? One of the many advantages of retirement is that there are not very many opportunities for conflict. As a retired Sony executive, I can decide things solely based on what is good for Brick. Of course, if an unexpected conflict did arise, I would consult with my attorney, and if he so advised, I would excuse myself.
Tell us about the most important thing you do that has nothing to do with politics or your employment: My wife Marijane is the love of my life. We first met over 52 years ago, and we enjoy each other’s company as much now as we did then. We like to travel, visit our grandchildren, and enjoy life. I have come to realize that nothing is more important than family and the people you love, and the most important thing I do is care for my loved ones.
What will you do if you are elected to council? I plan to continue my work on the Business and Finance committee. We have been very successful in creating a business-friendly environment and attracting new businesses to Brick. It’s exciting that Trader Joe's is open. Soon Corrado’s Italian Market will open on the vacant Pathmark site, and the Lidl grocery chain will fill the old Cost Cutters location with a new store. New stores and restaurants not only provide convenient places for residents to shop and eat, but provide good commercial ratables that lessen the load on taxpayers. Mayor Ducey has taken a leadership role in bringing new businesses to Brick, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.
