BRICK, NJ — Brick Township will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on May 30 on Chambers Bridge Road.

The parade, which begins at 10 a.m., is hosted by the township, American Legion Post 348 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867.

Chambers Bridge Road will be closed in both directions to traffic from 9:30 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade.

Parade participants meet at Pier Avenue and will march up Route 70 and continue on Chambers Bridge Road to the municipal complex, where the township will hold a ceremony for U.S. military who died in service to the country.

"Please come out and help us honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our Nation," township officials said.

Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It was originally known as Decoration Day and originated in the years following the Civil War, according to History.com. It became an official federal holiday in 1971.
