Brick United Holding Night At BlueClaws Fundraiser

The organization is working to raise funds to provide scholarships for Brick and Brick Memorial students.

BRICK, NJ — Brick United, the nonprofit organization promoting community and educatio" within Brick Township, is holding a fundraising event at an upcoming Lakewood BlueClaws game.

Brick United Night at the BlueClaws is set for Thursday, July 25, said Dennis Filippone, one of the founding members of the organization. The group is a continuation of efforts made while Filippone was working in the school district to ease tensions that had grown between the schools.

The group consists of 10 people from Brick Township High School and 10 from Brick Memorial High School, he said.

The goal is to raise enough funds to give out $20,000 in scholarships to high school seniors at the two schools.

Filippone said the group is a registered 501(c)(3) and "there is no one in the organization who gets a dime" from its fundraising efforts.

The group is giving free tickets to attend the July 25 game to elementary schools in the Brick Township School District.
