Brick Woman Charged In Stabbing Amid Fight With Neighbors: Police

Candace Haynes, 38, is accused of stabbing one woman in the neck and cutting a second woman's arm while the three fought, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A fight among neighbors led to one woman being stabbed, a second woman cut and a third woman arrested on charges she attacked the other two with a knife, Brick police said Tuesday.

Candace Haynes, 38, of Brick, was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the fight that happened April 12, Brick Sgt. Jim Kelly said.

Police were called to the area of 195 Sawmill Road about 2:30 a.m. for a report of a fight among three women who were neighbors. When they arrived, one woman had been taken to Ocean Medical Center after she was stabbed in the neck, Kelly said. That woman was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for additional treatment, but the wound was not life-threatening, he said.

The second woman, who was still at the scene of the fight, was treated by Brick Police EMS for cuts to her arm, Kelly said.

Detective Brian Farnkopf investigated and surveillance footage in the area led to the arrest of Haynes, he said.
