Brick's American Legion Lady Riders Welcoming New Members
Growing motorcycle popularity is increasing ranks among veterans service organization.

BRICK, NJ — The American Legion Riders are a familiar sight around Ocean County, providing escorts at police and military funerals, participating in Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades and much more.
The motorcyclists, members of their local American Legion, have been growing in numbers since the first units formed in Michigan in 1993.
Now, the women are joining in, and in Brick, the Lady Riders have become their own group within the group.

The Lady Riders of Brick Memorial American Legion Post 348 have 15 members, according to Lisa Corris, vice president of the group.
“These enthusiastic ladies get on their motorcycles about once a week to enjoy good comradeship and to support their community,” Corris said, and new riders are joining them as more women obtain their motorcycle licenses. “We help these new riders gain confidence while enjoying leisurely rides on local roadways.”

While enjoying these women-only outings, the Lady Riders also support the community by participating in a variety of fundraisers, with all proceeds going to help local families and groups that support the needs of disabled veterans.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
The National Executive Committee officially adopted the American Legion Riders as a national program with resolutions in 2007 and 2011.
