Brick's Eakfest Returning, Looking For Volunteers

The Halloween season event that raises funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is looking for help for this year's production.

BRICK, NJ -- The folks behind Eakfest, the Halloween event that has been scaring folks and raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for several years, said the event will return this fall.

After taking last October off while participating in the fight to protect a wooded property near the Pioneer Hose Company firehouse from being developed into homes, the organizers said they are gearing up for Eakfest 2016.

It will be held at the VFW Post on Adamston Road in Brick on Oct. 21 and 22, organizers said.

But they also are looking to bring more people into the event:

"We are in desperate need of new volunteers and creative minds after taking a brief leave of absence last year," the organizers said.

Anyone who loves acting, dressing up for Halloween, building spooky sets, or just raising money for charity is asked to contact them on Facebook (click here for the Eakfest Facebook page) or send an email to eakfest@msn.com.

Working at Eakfest is great for community service hours, or just for having fun scaring people. In 2014 they raised $15,000 for the foundation, organizers said.

The group is setting up a YouTube channel where they will share video clips from past haunt walkthroughs to give an idea of what they do, and they urge people to follow them on Facebook and on Twitter (@eakfest) as well as checking the website, www.eakfest.com.
