Brick's H.S. Bowling Dominance Honored By Mayor, Council
The girls' teams from Brick, Brick Memorial, finished 1-2 in the state championships; the boys from Brick Memorial were second in state.
BRICK, NJ -- In a township where strong football, hockey and soccer teams have long been the talk of the town, there's another sport where the township has dominated for years: bowling.
Between the two schools, there are nine overall NJSIAA state championships, 20 group championships, and a slew of tournament and individual honors, between the boys and the girls teams, according to NJSIAA records.
And the 2015-16 season just furthered that dominance, but with a twist: the girls from Brick Township and Brick Memorial dueled all season to claim the title of best in town as well as best in the state, with Brick Township winning the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions and Brick Memorial receiving the nod in the NJ.com Top 10 poll.
