Brick's Super Saturday: Beach Cleanups, Farmers Market And A Ballgame

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, look no farther than right here in Brick, as a host of events are available to keep you busy.

For starters, there’s the township’s first Farmers’ Market, set for 9 a.m. to noon at Windward Beach.

The market sprang up from the desire to add more healthy choices to food availability in Brick. Vendors include Kauffman Farms, which will have fresh asparagus, jams and baked goods. Lave, which offers handcrafted artisan soap, will be on hand with its organic body products.

Beckage Farms will have fresh produce, with a full line of fruits, vegetables, honey, Dutch baked goods and more. Big Spoon Little Spoon Naturals offers herbal plant-based body products. Breadsmith will have artisan breads, dessert breads, cookies, muffins, pastries. Devil Brownies speaks for itself!

Plus more: Down to Earth Handmade Products; JuicePlus; Krakus Deli; Moore Yarn, and Mee Wees -- close out your morning with a scone.

The farmers market is set for every Saturday until Sept. 12, except for the Fourth of July.

At the same time, the Clean Ocean Action Beach Sweeps will be underway. In Brick they will be starting at Brick Beach 3 and working their way north. An additional cleanup will take place at Rachel’s Beach at Windward Beach Park.

In the afternoon, it’s Brick Day at the Lakewood BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park. The Claws are hosting the Hagerstown Suns at 3:30 p.m. and Mayor John Ducey will be throwing out the first pitch. In addition, it’s Ladies Day, with drink specials for women.

Stay for the second game of the special doubleheader, as the Brick Dragons varsity baseball team squares off against the Brick Memorial varsity. Who will be king of the mound? That game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
