Burglary String Netted $2M In Items; Man Charged, Lakewood Police Say

Religious artifacts, silver candelabras, as well as jewelry and cash were taken in the burglaries, police say.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Willingboro man has been charged in a string of burglaries that netted more than $2 million in stolen items, according to a report.

Barry E. Walker, 37, of Willingboro, was arrested earlier this month in the case, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Walker had been sought since November, when a member of the Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch saw a vehicle leaving the scene of a burglary that was interrupted by an alarm and was able to get a description of the vehicle to police, the report said. The vehicle information led to the development of Walker as a suspect, and he was tracked to Asbury Park, where he was arrested July 9, the report said.
