The smoke was drifting northeast, authorities said.

A fire that has burned more than 1,000 acres of forest in Burlington County is causing a smoke condition in Manchester and other parts of Ocean County, authorities said late Monday night.
Manchester Township police issued a Nixle alert saying the smoke, which had extended to the eastern portion of the township as of 10 p.m., was the result of the fire, which has been named the Woodmansie Wildfire, according to the Ocean County Police Fire & EMS Facebook page.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s office said the fire, burning in Woodland Township, at the Burlington County-Ocean County line, just north of Route 72 and just west of Route 539, is not threatening any structures and has been brought under control by firefighters. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is on location, officials said.
