Buy A Jersey Mike's Sub Wednesday, Help Schools, Charities

Midstreams PTA says the Brick school has other incentives, too.

BRICK, NJ -- For most people, a birthday is usually a day of receiving.

But for Jersey Mike's, the company's birthday has turned into a Day of Giving.

Jersey Mike's opened its first store as Mike's Subs on March 30, 1956 in Point Pleasant Beach, and was bought several years later by current owner Peter Cancro, and its name changed to Jersey Mike's.

Today, as the company marks 60 years in business, it has declared today, Wednesday, March 30, a Day of Giving, and is donating 100 percent of the day's proceeds to local schools and charities.

The Route 88 location's proceeds are going to the Midstreams Elementary School PTA, according to a Facebook post from the PTA. In addition, the PTA post says, "Dr. Billen is offering the outdoor recess inventive if one-third of our students turn in/email in a receipt dated 3/30/16."

The Chambersbridge Road and Mantoloking Road proceeds are going to Lake Riviera Middle School, according to the company's website.

It’s all part of the company’s sixth annual ”Month of Giving” campaign that culminates with the ”Day of Giving,” according to the website.
